Term 3 Outline

Getting close friends and family to cook a meal they feel either represents themselves or has a special meaning to them. Will be interviewing them as they cook (hopefully via facetime/skype if available) asking the following questions:

  • Why does this dish represent or mean something to you?
  • Do you remember the 1st time you made/ate this dish?
  • What is your fondest memory involving food?
  • Would you describe food as an important part of your life?
These questions are deliberately quite vague to just open a dialogue about food and how we communicate with and involving food.

I will be extracting quotes from these interviews and using them within some form of artwork, maybe entirely removed from the questions that were asked.

Also, while people are cooking I will be asking them to take pictures as they go, 4 pictures of their choice as they create the dish and 2 of the final product, one from the dishes 'best' angle, in their opinion, and one from directly above the plate so that I have a standardised image from every person to work from.
